My Light and Salvation

Question: since Jesus is Lord of my life, whom and what do I have to fear? Answer: no one and nothing. Spiritually this truth is sound as my rest, hope, peace, and future are all in the hands of the Creator of the Universe. My every today and every tomorrow are firmly flowing from the grace and mercy of my God and Father. My Lord Jesus has ensured that nothing in the universe can separate me from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39).

Practically though, this is very difficult to remember. In the midst of trials, threats, tribulation, and worldly trouble it is sometimes incredibly difficult to hold onto the promises of an unchanging God (Hebrews 13:8). In my life God has never stopped being faithful, His love sustains me and transforms me. But this is a training process, slow and sometimes painful. Don’t give up in the middle of His loving work in your life.

My prayer is that you and I would both be comforted and strengthened today as we remember that God is our light and salvation. Even as darkness grows across the world, the light of Christ is shinning brightly. Even as death and doom seem to loom on the horizon, our salvation and life are sure in Jesus Christ. Be still, know that Jesus is God. (Psalm 46:10)

The Battle Begins!

We are at war. If you don’t realize the battle is on for your mind, heart and soul, you’ve already lost so many battles. Every day when our eyes open we step onto a battle field where our enemy pursues, attacks, and if we’re not prepared: destroys.

Our lives, marriages, children, and future hang in the balance. Our enemy? Satan, a ferocious lion looking for a soul to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Our battle? Not against flesh and blood but against the powers of this dark world and spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). Our weapons? The armor of God and the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Today there is a battle raging that none of us can win on our own. Though our enemy is great, the One who dwells within us through faith in Jesus is far greater than him (1 John 4:4).

Praise the Lord!

The beauty of creation is never ceasing. From the smallest flowers to the most majestic mountains, all of creation testifies of the glory of God (Romans 1:20). The intelligence, attention to detail, complexity, and beauty of all created things points to this One truth: there is a God and His power is unsearchable.

I find it takes far more faith to simply believe that the universe simply “exploded” into existence without rhyme or reason. Science is a religion and its adherents require more faith to disbelieve in God than I think I do to know He is. If you still reject the Creator it isn’t because there is no proof of His existence…

My prayer for you and I today is that our hearts would be refreshed and encouraged. The beauty we see in the world around us reminds us that our God is the beautiful creator who gives attention to every detail. The same God who spoke creation into existence knows your name, hears your prayers, and has given everything so you could know Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
