The Word of God

This may be an old fashioned notion but I believe the Bible is the living Word of God. I believe the Scripture is God’s full revelation to mankind and fully self sufficient for all matters of faith and practice. I believe the Bible is God breathed, fully inspired, and should be the primary way we teach, correct, and train the church of Jesus (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Within the pages of Scripture I see the nature and character of my unchanging God (Hebrews 13:8). I am reminded that here the Truth that has power to set men free is found. The problem isn’t that God has changed or that His Word has lost its power, its a a deep ignorance or rejection of the Scripture.

Keep it simple saints. Get back to the Scripture. Stop trying to invent new ways of fixing an age old problem. Jesus is still the only One who has power to save.

Jesus. No other name is given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Jesus. God’s only Son, given as a ransom for our lives out of God’s heart love so we would not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Jesus. The way, the truth and the life… the only way back to the Father (John 14:6).

Today my greatest hope is that you (yes you) would know the love and hope found only through faith in Jesus. (Romans 10:9) No matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or what you are facing Jesus died for you (Romans 5:8). You can begin your whole life again today… if you’d only come (Matthew 11:28).

With Jesus Nothing is Impossible

The same Jesus who opened the eyes of the blind, gave hearing to the deaf, healed the lame and the leper, and raised the dead back to life, knows your name. In Christ nothing is impossible. No life is too broken or gone to be saved. No marriage or relationship is too past saving. No sickness or addiction is too powerful. In Jesus, all things are possible.

In my brief time on this planet one lesson I have learned well is this… even if Jesus doesn’t, His plan, purpose, and grace are enough for me. Even though Jesus could have stopped the wreck that tried to destroy my life, He didn’t. Although Satan thought the wreck and death of my late wife Cassie and daughter Brynleigh would destroy me, Jesus had a purpose beyond the pain. Today everything that Satan tried to steal is still in the unshakable hands of the God of the universe.

My prayer for us both today is we would remember with Jesus it isn’t a matter of “if He can”. He is the God of the impossible. When Jesus speaks, galaxies spin into existence. The same God who conquered death, hell, and the grave lives in me. In Christ nothing is beyond His power to save, redeem, restore, and rebuild.
