Oh How I Need Jesus

As a new day ramps up, I hope that you know in Jesus we find rest for our souls. In the hustle and bustle of every day life, we can slowly become weary and overwhelmed but here in the presence of Jesus we will find true rest and peace for our souls. Here in Christ we find a peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Often pride can keep us from coming to Jesus. “I don’t need a crutch”. “God helps those who help themselves”. “God can’t love me, I’ve just done too much”. The lies we tell ourselves vary but when we refuse to acknowledge our desperate need for Jesus we will never experience the life God created us to know. Today, come with every anxiety and cast it at Jesus feet (1 Peter 5:7) and before the throne of God you will find mercy and grace to help in your time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

My prayer for you and I today is that we would realize just how desperately we need Jesus. I also pray that we would remember God loves us with a love that surpasses understanding. Through our faith in Jesus we are promised that nothing and no one can ever separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39). Today let us find great joy in the grace and mercy of our good God.

His Mercies Are New Today

As the sun rises on a new day may the love of Jesus flood every part of your heart and mind. May this gift of a new day fill you with joy. No matter what pain or hurt you might be facing today, never let us take another sunrise for granted. Today is a gift from the Lord and His mercies are new today (Lamentations 3:21-23).

So often we take each day for granted as if life will always continue on uninterrupted. In the daily struggle we lose sight of eternity and slowly drift into a cycle of repetition that leaves us empty, distracted, and anxious about so many different things. Today can be different… Jesus calls on us to cast our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).

My prayer for us today is we would not be consumed by the worry and anxieties of life. Let us look to Jesus as the source of our “daily bread” as He promises to provide for our needs for today. Let us look to the Shepherd and draw near to Him. Here in the presence of Jesus we will find rest (Matthew 11:28) as He gives us mercy and grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

Its Time to Be Set Free

No matter where this life takes me, regardless of the twists and turns, in spite of the dumb, selfish, sinful choices I’ve made: Jesus has never left me. God’s mercies are new every day (Lamentations 3:23) and it is by His great mercy and grace I’ve not been destroyed.

Although I have no way of knowing what you’re facing today, God does. Maybe it’s sickness, disease, poor health, or some physical limitation. Maybe you’re facing addiction that has enslaved you and is trying to destroy you. Maybe you are lost serving a god who can’t save you and whose powerless to change you… all that can change today.

Jesus is calling: “come” (Matthew 11:28). Only He can give you rest.
