Everything I am, everything I have, every good thing about me, all of it is because of the good God whom I serve. As I look at the cross I am reminded that all of us are the same… we all need Jesus. Presidents and Kings need Jesus. The beggars on the street need Jesus. The rich, poor, young, old, power and weak all need Jesus.
God has the power to give and the power to take away. His loving kindness and mercy are not dependent on my goodness but on His perfect, unfailing love for me. So knowing my desperate need for Jesus and the grace that He came to give, how could I ever boast? Everything I have is a free gift from God through my faith and trust in my Lord Jesus. What (or who) are you boasting in?
My prayer for you and I today is that we would continue to remember that without Jesus we are nothing. Without the loving kindness, mercy, grace and faithfulness of God none of us would have hope. Through Jesus we become sons and daughters of the God of the universe. Today, let us rejoice in the freedom and hope we have in Jesus Christ!
