As followers of Jesus we are called into a deeper community of fellowship in Christ’s love. In this love we are called to celebrate and rejoice with our brothers and sisters in Christ in times of joy. In times of desperation, pain and suffering, we are called to weep with those who are hurting. In the midst of life it can be easy to rejoice but hard to weep.

I have personally experienced the overwhelming love of the church during times of great crisis. It is this love that transformed the hearts of some who mean the most to me. The love of Jesus in the midst of brokenness through His church transforms the world. To those who rejoice, let us rejoice. To those who are hurting, let us hurt. In Christ we are a family and we won’t face a step alone.

My prayer for you and I today is we would not run from the pain of others. Let our hearts and souls draw near to our brothers and sisters as we cry out as children of God. Brothers and sisters, you are not alone. Our God will not leave us or forsake us. Come all who are weary, Jesus will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
